Jim Martin has been the head coach at Providence School for 26 years and is entering his 32nd year of coaching overall. During his tenure, Coach Martin has won four FHSAA State Championships (2010, 2013, 2015, 2026) and has led his teams to nine State Final Four appearances. Since 2010, four of his teams have been nationally ranked in the Top 25.

He holds an impressive career record of 670 wins and 135 losses. Coach Martin has been honored as the FABC Coach of the Year four times and the Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year five times. In 2024, he received the prestigious John Wooden Legacy Award, recognizing his long, distinguished career and impact on the game. Following an outstanding 2026 season, he was also awarded the Wally Keller Coaches Award.

Coach Martin has helped develop numerous players who have gone on to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond, including former Duke standout, 2014 McDonald’s All-American, and current Phoenix Suns player, Grayson Allen. He also coached 2010 McDonald’s All-American Patric Young and has produced more than 54 college basketball players throughout his career.

A 1981 graduate of Jacksonville University, Coach Martin was a four-year starter in the basketball program. Today, he is widely regarded as one of the top high school coaches in the state of Florida. He speaks at clinics throughout the Southeast and is deeply passionate about teaching the game. Coach Martin is committed to developing players both on and off the court and instilling a deep understanding of how the game should be played.
